Theatre Royal, Winchester

These pictures show the construction works to the Winchester Theatre Royal in progress.

Since 1996 the Winchester Theatre Fund have been raising money to completely restore the Theatre Royal.

The picture above shows where the stage area had been excavated, forming storage area below and to incorporate an orchestra pit.

The electrical switchroom, which houses the dimmers, is located in the basement, below the scaffolding seen on the stage.

The picture below shown the rear of the stall area, where the original plaster ceiling was carefully renovated, and new dimmable low-voltage lights were incorporated into the plaster rosettes.
